Questions we hear most
If yours isn't here, call or send a message. Please leave out medical details.
Do you take my insurance?
We work with some PPO dental plans, and we are out of network with others. Call with your plan's name and we will tell you which, and we check benefits before your visit. We are not enrolled with Medicaid or CHIP.
What if I don't have insurance?
You pay at the visit, and you get a good faith estimate in writing before any treatment. Financing is offered by third-party lenders, and approval and terms are set by the lender.
Will it hurt?
We numb the area before any drilling and you can ask for a break at any time. Some people feel pressure or soreness afterward. Dr. Xiao tells you what to expect before she starts.
What if I'm nervous?
Tell us at the start. Dr. Xiao explains each step before she does it, you can raise your hand to stop, and you can bring someone with you.
How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?
Dr. Xiao decides from your teeth and your history. She takes X-rays only when she needs them to see something.
What is a deep cleaning?
A cleaning below the gum line for gums that show signs of disease. Dr. Xiao tells you if she thinks you need one and why.
Do you see children?
Dr. Xiao sees adults. For young children we can recommend a dentist who sees them.
What counts as a dental emergency?
A knocked-out tooth, a broken tooth, or a swelling that is growing needs a call to us right away. Swelling that spreads toward your eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop needs an emergency room or 911.
Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes, every time. Ask when you schedule or at the exam, and take it home to read before you decide.
Do you speak Spanish?
Our visits are in English. You are welcome to bring a family member to interpret, and the estimate is written down so you can go over it at home.
How do I choose between a filling, an inlay and a crown?
Dr. Xiao looks at how much sound tooth is left and what the tooth has to do, then explains the options that fit. The comparison on the home page shows how the three differ.
How do I cancel or change a visit?
